Izzy has an MA in Applied Theatre: Education and Community Engagement from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (2014-2015), and has worked in the USA, India and Kenya as a practitioner on projects with young people.
In 2016, Izzy led a 2 year project Bridging the Gap, funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation through Tanio (media links) community arts company, working in The Bridge Alternative Provision to use Drama as an intervention to work with young people on the Autistic Spectrum. Izzy has worked extensively with young people on the Autistic spectrum and with complex mental health in a variety of contexts ranging from Autism units, Pupil Referral Units, schools, youth clubs and psychiatric units across South Wales. She is also an associate artist with the Hidden Voices project: supporting diaspora families with Autistic children to gain access to support and services.
Since 2016, Izzy has worked with Hayaat Women’s Trust, supporting arts based projects led and devised by Cardiff’s Somali community, exhibiting and showcasing work at Wales Millenium Centre, Senedd Wales, The National Library of Wales and Ffotogallery Cardiff.
In 2024 she directed the Autumn project for Cardboard Citizens and the Minding The Gap project for Kiln Theatre, a 10 week Drama based project for migrant and refugee mothers. This has led her to be the Community Company Director for Kiln’s year long intergenerational project (2025-2026), co-directing with Kane Husbands a brand new play for a cast of 60 people by Sonia Jalaly. In 2025 Izzy was also one of the lead facilitators for the Nana Punks Project: a punk music songwriting project for women over 50 in collaboration with Wales Millennium Centre and The Cab, Newport.
